Heather Shimmen was born in Melbourne in 1957. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from RMIT University in 1978. Her recent solo exhibitions includeThe Swamp Maiden’s Tale, Australian Galleries (Melbourne), Betwixt, Gallery 101 (Melbourne) and Things That Float In The Air, Joshua McClelland Print Room (Melbourne). In 2000 her work was included in the NETS Victoria touring exhibition Cutting Comments. Her work is held in numerous public collections throughout Australia, including the National Gallery of Australia (Canberra), Art Gallery of South Australia (Adelaide), Australian War Memorial (Canberra) and Artbank. She currently resides in Melbourne.
