Zoë Bastin is an artist and choreographer committed to the capacities of dance for personal and political transformation. Her practice manifests as installations, films, and live performances. Recently, Bastin participated in Dancehouse’s Emerging Choreographers Program, and had residencies at the Villa Lena Foundazione (Tuscany, Italy), Chunky Move. Bastin completed a PhD at RMIT University, where she developed a deep knowledge of contemporary sculpture and dance practice, with a particular interest in improvisation, feminist and queer critical theory, and new materialisms. Bastin has shared her research at conferences both in Australia and internationally and by hosting workshops. Bastin is currently a lecturer at Deakin University.
