Christopher Langton is a Melbourne based sculptor who graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1993. His large-scale forms and installations are constructed using a variety of mediums including hard and soft plastics, polyurethanes, polyesters and silicone. He also incorporates found objects into the forms that he meticulously shapes and paints by hand. A major part of his oeuvre has been the creation of large-scale inflatable and rigid plastic sculptures. Using toys for inspiration, he changes the scale and by doing so subverts the object’s relationship with the viewer, turning the normally cute and cuddly into something that is slightly sinister and somewhat menacing. Langton has exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas.

Christopher Langton is represented by Tolarno Galleries, Melbourne.
