NETS Victoria is delighted to partner with Bus Projects to present Notions of Care.
Notions of Care explores the myriad ways in which art and nurture are connected. The exhibition invites audience to rest their bodies and their minds, to pause, and to contemplate the unique works created by Arini Byng, Renae Coles & Anna Dunnill (Snapcat), Polly Stanton, Kate Tucker and Katie West.
The concept of care is one that is especially pertinent today. Exploring the ways in which we show care as well as who and what we care for, provides the very basis for considering life in all its complexity. As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, caring is an area of great concern to me. Whether caring for people or caring for art, we are all expressing the human condition. NETS Victoria is the peak body for touring visual art, craft and design across Victoria and beyond; partner- ing and collaborating with art galleries, cultural institu- tions, artists and curators to present outstanding exhibitions and projects, complemented by high quality publications and programs. NETS Victoria is both proud and excited to be giving regional audiences across Victo- ria access to the important works of these exciting, contemporary artists.
Art can provide a transformative experience for people through curiosity, inspiration and reflection. By touring this exhibition of expressive works, NETS Victo- ria has enabled the exceptional work of Bus Projects our exhibition partner, to reach audiences across Victoria.
On behalf of NETS Victoria, I would like to thank and pay tribute to the strong commitment of our partner Bus Projects led by Director Channon Goodwin, and the exhibition curators Kathryne Genevieve Honey and Nina Mulhall. I also congratulate the extraordinary artists involved for their unique creative visions – their import- ant work helps us build connections and understanding of what it means to care across cultures.
Special thanks to Creative Victoria for their support of the exhibition tour and its development through the Exhibition Development Fund; as well as all of NETS Victoria’s touring partners and supporting organisations who have made this tour possible.
