Alice Kettle
Alice Kettle is internationally known for her distinctive application of machine embroidery in the construction of large-scale wall works. Her work explores the deep material connection of the cultural and human condition. She completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) at the University of Reading in 1984 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Textile Art at Goldsmiths College in 1984. She is a writer and lecturer and is currently Senior Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University and Visiting Professor at the University of Winchester. Alice is represented in the collections of the Crafts Council, London, the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, the Museo Internationale delle Arti Applicate Oggi, Turin, Italy, and the Museum of Decorative Art and Design, Riga, Latvia. She has completed major commissions for the National Library of Australia, the Scottish High Court, Edinburgh and the Winchester Discovery Centre.
