Seeing voices uses the Monash University Collection as a springboard for thinking through the voice and how it is visualised, employed and reimagined in contemporary art.In the exhibition, the voice might act as a metaphor for collective action, for speaking out against injustice and coming together in gestures of solidarity. It can be a marker of cultural and geographic specificity or the trace of disappearing language. It may also function like a spiritual medium; through its historical recording and archiving it time-travels to haunt the present.

The first iteration of the exhibition opens at Horsham Regional Art Gallery 14 October and run through until 10 December. Why not time your visit to coincide with a public program?

Artist talk ~ Agatha Gothe-Snape and Brian Fuata
WrongSolo is a performance duo comprising artists Brian Fuata and Agatha Gothe-Snape. Using stylistic sets, basic architectural structures, choreographed movement, and textual and audio-visual components, the duo’s work often aims to make viewers aware of their physical and psychological conditioning around the act of looking at art, and especially at live performance art.

Saturday 9 December, 11am – 4:30pm.
Presentation ~ 60 minutes for Horsham presented by Wrong Solo (Agatha Gothe-Snape and Brian Fuata) throughout the day. The performance will include a number of iterations with different members of various local community groups over the day.
