New Chapter: Claire Watson to conclude as Director of NETS Victoria—

25.09.25

Our Director, Claire Watson, has decided to conclude their time towards the end of the year at NETS Victoria.

Bec Cole, Chair of the Board says: “We will greatly miss Claire’s energy and her commitment to bring extraordinary art to communities across Victoria and beyond. Her dedicated leadership since November 2019 has transformed our organisation, strengthening our commitment to prioritising First Nations and diverse voices. Claire’s passion for artists, diverse artistic practice and championing the impact of arts experiences in regional communities has moved our sector towards real change. Her capacity to lead the conversation about who art is for and why it matters has grown NETS Victoria’s reputation, developing key policies and resources that support access and inclusion for everyone. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Claire for her dedication, advocacy and active allyship. It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to work alongside her, and we wish her the very best for her next steps.”

Claire Watson says: “It has been an extraordinary privilege to work with the dedicated team at NETS Victoria and the incredible artists, curators and arts workers who have worked tirelessly to extend the impact of contemporary art and support meaningful conversations in the arts sector and beyond. Thank you to the regional galleries for their passionate commitment and our government partners for supporting so many extraordinary touring exhibitions that reach communities far and wide. It has been an honour to work with the Board and our Artistic Program and First Nations Advisory Committees, and I am sincerely thankful to them for their unwavering support and trust.”

NETS Victoria’s Board will commence the search for a new Director shortly.
