Experience a live activation of Caitlin and Natasha Dubler’s ‘Tephra’ as Natasha performs the cello in Lewers House Gallery this Friday 26 April at 6:45pm and 7:30pm. This is a unique and intimate performance where the sounds of the cello reverberate through the glass, concrete, and bronze sculptures.
‘Tephra’ is a sonic and sculptural installation that blends Caitlin and Natasha’s respective practices across silversmithing, glass, and music to explore gestures of listening and touch.
‘Tephra’ is exhibiting in Lewers House Gallery until Sunday, 28 April.
Natasha’s performance will occur twice during Twilight at Lewers, Friday 26 April at 6:45pm and 7:30pm.

Join us for the final month of ‘Twelvefold,’ an exhibition of emerging artists across Ancher House and the Loungeroom Gallery.
In April of 2023, twelve local emerging artists were selected to take part in the inaugural Ancher Points: Emerging Artists Intensive. For one week, the artists met in Ancher House to engage in an exchange of skills and knowledge with artists, mentors, and each other.
Equipped with new tools, relationships, affinities and concepts, the artists embarked on twelve journeys to broaden their practice. In the nine months to follow, those paths looped and intersected, encountered new ideas, and rediscovered others. Nine months on, the artists share their journeys in the culminating exhibition ‘Twelvefold.’
‘Twelvefold’ is on view until Sunday, 28 April.

Each term children develop artmaking techniques, and create artworks inspired by our exhibitions in our Art Adventure and Art Odyssey programs. Our youngest visitors explore the garden and galleries through songs, stories and sensory artmaking in our Bubs and Tots Club programs.

How do we capture an accurate representation of a region at any given moment in time?
There are roughly 750 billion photographs currently in circulation online. Searching for photographs of Penrith will return an adequate, if simplified, image of the physical conditions of our locale; but this is only part of the picture.
‘Between Urgency and Leisure’ presents a multifaceted portrait of Penrith through a selection of photographic works from our collection, alongside newly commissioned additions. Here, Penrith is captured through a broader lens: through documentation of the rapid urbanisation of the region; and through portraits of the communities that call it home.

We are hiring! Penrith Regional Gallery, Home of The Lewers Bequest is looking for a new Collections Officer.
Reporting to the Director, Visual Arts, the Collections Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of Collection programs to achieve continuous improvements in the conservation, management and access of our cultural assets.
The key responsibilities of this role centre the overseeing of the improvement in management practices and include the planning and implementation of Collection projects including Collection store upgrades and inventory checks. This role is also responsible for managing the cultural gifts program, responding to donation enquiries and supporting outward loans.
The role contributes to artistic programming by identifying display and presentation opportunities for the Gallery’s Collection, whilst supporting the Curator as well as the Learning and Engagement Coordinators on collection-based access and engagement initiatives.

We are hiring! Penrith Regional Gallery, Home of The Lewers Bequest is looking for a new Curator.
The Curator is a specialist professional role, requiring in-depth knowledge of contemporary art and art history, utilising excellent relationship-building skills to nurture partnerships with external stakeholders including artists, educators, and other arts institutions, whilst creating programs that engage with a diverse range of audiences and community group.
Project management is a core skill required in this position. As Curator you will be expected to undertake curatorial research and develop exhibitions and other artistic activities that respond to the social and cultural conditions of the Gallery, its histories, and its position in western Sydney.

We are saddened to hear of the recent passing of Tahmid Nurullah @ladstreet, a leading voice in the west Sydney cultural scene. We have the privilege of presenting a selection of works by Tahmid as part of our current exhibition, Between Urgency and Leisure, on until Sunday 28 April.
Tahmid emerged as one of the leading documentary photographers of Sydney, sharing his place within any number of communities of west Sydney with his audiences. His relentless energy, intelligence and wit will be remembered through his work.
"My work explores how the notion of identity is in fact a reflection of the lived experience and the material world around us. It’s engaging with the various ways our sense of self is articulated and expressed through suffering and joy, and is nurtured with mutualism and community." -Tahmid Nurullah
There’s nothing quite like our Gallery Dodo Birds. Over the years, our Dodos have travelled far and wide across our Gardens, always in a new formation. They’ve been part of morning coffee runs at @cafeatlewers , evening events, and open days.

Last Friday night was full of life and activity at Twilight at Lewers! The evening featured live music from DustyMusic, pop up artisan market with Dengate Leather and LindyLou AU, a range of drop in art making activities in the garden and galleries, and delicious drinks and tapas from @cafeatlewers.

Thank you also to Ngiyampaa and Guringai artist Tarni Eastwood, who shared knowledge of traditional and contemporary Aboriginal weaving techniques in a sold out @nulaweaving Weaving Workshop, with Welcome to Country from Aunty Kerrie Kenton. This was our final program for Simmer: New Movements in Music and Art, an initiative proudly supported by the NSW Government through the Culture Up Late Western Sydney program.
