NETS Victoria is pleased to announce the recipients of the Exhibition Development Fund 2011. Three recipients will each receive $10,000 towards the development of an exhibition for tour.
The recipients for 2011 are:
Signature Style gathers together some of Melbourne's most exciting contemporary jewellers and explores a burgeoning methodology of practice that has hitherto remained unexamined in a major touring exhibition.
Test Pattern brings together works by inter generational artists across painting and video and installation to provide an overview of the influence of found abstraction in Australian contemporary art. Using the year 2000 as a site of redefinition for Painting and Performative practice, the exhibition contextualizes current attitudes toward abstract art.
Still standing, in use, abandoned, re-purposed or existing only in memory, The Cinemas Project addresses movie theatres as spectral sites full of spirited visions, ghostly images and the theatre of memory. Artists will be invited to engage with the cinema-site through dialogue with local history, living memories or the physical structure of the building itself.
The three exhibitions will begin development in 2012, with tours planned for 2012-14.
